Practicing kindness towards you and your child
with Lizeth Andrade
Have you ever said to yourself, I love my child, but sometimes I don’t like him/her? And then feel guilty about it? Well, you are not alone. Parenthood can be very challenging, specially while disciplining a child coming from a HUMAN being that feels and has needs as well. In this class, we review the importance of practicing the difficult process of being kind to ourselves, while also accepting that it’s a needed process to then be kind to our kids.
We review the foundations of the attachment theory, as the building blocks to discover our needs, understand them, and accept them. Attachment theory is a scientifically proven method that allows every human being to understand the reasoning behind our reactions, when feeling triggered in a conflicting event; this, in order to “make sense” of things and be able to repair our communication in order to impact our behaviors towards a more kind and effective way, seeking prevention or resolution of a conflict.
While we learn to accept us as HUMAN beings, and not robots that have to have everything under control, then we can create space to practice being kind to ourselves, and repair the communication with our kids, when things get out of control. How realistic it sounds: Mom/Dad is very angry right now, let me take a deep breath before I get back to you. Small acts of kindness like this, were you give yourself permission to feel, can impact in such an amazing way how we interact with our kids.
After this class you will be able to understand yourself and be kind to you, so let me help you, and let’s walk together the path towards a more realistic, secure and happy relationship with ourselves and our kids.
